What are Property Profile Flags? / How do I add a Flag to a Property?

Mark properties with restrictions or warnings that trigger alerts.

Property Profile Flags are a feature in GovPilot that allow users to add warnings or restrictions to a property. These flags act as safeguards—alerting users to critical issues like unpaid violations, tax liens, or department-specific holds before creating a new record (like a permit or inspection) for that property.

If a property has a flag, the reason will display any time someone attempts to create a new record for that address or opens that Property Profile. This ensures all users are immediately informed of any restrictions that could impact the next steps.

How to add a flag to a property:

  1. Navigate to the Property Profile for the relevant address.

  2. Click the flag icon.

  3. Click + Add Reason.

  4. Select a reason from the dropdown list (configured by your system administrator).

  5. (Optional) Add a note with additional context.

  6. Click Save.

You can add multiple flags to a single property. All activity—including flags added or removed—is tracked in the Flagged Log tab for auditing and review.

Where to view all flagged properties:

In the left-hand navigation menu, there's a new section under Favorites called Flags. This view displays all flagged properties in one place and allows you to:

  • Open each Property Profile.

  • View and manage existing flags.

  • Export the list to Excel.
